This is a 5″ Blade Panawal Biltong Khukuri (also called kukri or khukri by many people outside Nepal). It has a small 5-inch unpolished blade made from highly graded 5160 carbon steel with oil quenching temper. There is a strong full tang handle made from hard rosewood and is 5-inch in lenght. The sheath for this khukuri is made from cotton wrapped in refined water buffalo leather.
This 5″ Blade Panawal Biltong Khukuri is named ‘Biltong’ that came to our understanding from one of our customers from South Africa. It is a top-rated knife for south Africans where most of these knives are exported. Biltong means “dried fish & meat” which the cut in Africa with this knife. It is used for cutting vegetables and meat in the kitchen or outdoors. You can also use it as a pocket utility knife for small tasks like skinning, opening cans, letters, etc.
Handmade by Kaamis who belong to the “Bishwakarmas” clans who are the inheritors and the successors of the art of khukuri making using the top quality materials in a traditional method with traditional hand tools.
